Cornwall Energy Task Force Meeting:
Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10AM at Cornwall Library
Agenda Points:
- EPA Report- Our status as a Green Communities Partner has been updated for 2012 with the EPA. Kari Morales has been steadily working with the Portfolio Manager to upload data for Cornwall so we can have ongoing reports on our successes and failings so that we can build a strategy and energy plan.
- New alliances with other town task forces-
CETF has been working to develop educational programs with KEETF (Kent). This has been a successful alliance and so the two are extending shared efforts to Sharon and Salisbury. Possible common programs will be film/lecture, HES and the CEO programs.
- Winter Programs to be scheduled-
-The Clean Energy Fund, (now CEFIA), has new guidelines for their programs that need to be presented.
-Intro to HES Programs
-What would Jefferson do?
(explaining how taxes, subsidies and incentives have shaped the energy industry)
-Pros and Cons of Fuel Coops
Possible Spring Programs-
-Bike Ride and Alt. Transportation Fair, Talk on Tires and Driving Class,
-Solar Successes Tour
-possible film-Revenge of the Electric Car
- New Gardening Program- Debbie Bennett is working on a gardening program in collaboration with the Library. They will install raised beds and then schedule demonstrations and activities related to their progress through harvest. She is developing a schedule and budget to be presented to CETF and the Library. Possible spin-offs would be a garden tour, a website presence, and coordination with local food producers and the food bank.
- Food.Fiber.Forestry.Farm Camp -Ruth Charny is working between CETF, Mother House and the Ag. and Housing committees to establish a Food.Fiber.Forestry.Farm Camp for five days devoted to tours of these interests. She has had one successful summer with 5 campers and expects 20 next summer. She is also working on a Father’s Day/Summer Solstice Program that highlights utopian, agrarian communities. (She also has an idea to expand affordable housing using existing homes that we will discuss later called Inn w/o Walls.) In all these projects CETF expects to highlight good energy conservation practices.
- Publicity- We have plans for the Website involving redesign and youtube thanks to Nev Dunn. We want to update our website with a newsletter, and short films that show our successes and further promote the new Clean Energy Option.
- Membership- We are also looking for new members and hope to attract people with specific projects. We need help with our publicity, specifically to create an expanded mailing list.
Other 2012 dates to put on your calendar for quarterly meetings:
April 21, 2012
June 16, 2012
Sept 22, 2012
(Other meetings per project will be set in-between.)
Respectfully submitted,
